Pre-Season Power Skating Camp
August 26-29, 2019 @ Bridgewater Ice Arena
Get ready for the 2019-20 Season with experienced hockey skating experts! Doug Shepherd of the Boston Bandits and Evasive Hockey will be running a Power Skating Clinic at the Bridgewater Ice Arena, August 26-29.
The Program approach to player development centers on teaching a foundation of proper skating mechanics and the fundamentals necessary for effective game play. The camp will give players the confidence and skill set necessary to play the game at top speed.
The Skating Program will feature 3 components: Technique, Power and Speed.
Each session will consist of over 30 fundamental & elite skating tactics. In the Technique phase, the focus is on the use of the full blade, body posture, angle of push and extension, recovery, inside and outside edge mastery and center of balance.
Component two is Power, focusing on lower body postural movement and general strength oriented pushes.
Speed is the final component and cannot be developed properly until the teenage years. However, it is never too early to introduce! This phase focuses on proper stops and starts, effective crossovers and when to use them, straight line and multi-directional explosive movement.
At the end of each session we will reward the players with a fun and fast cross ice game!
